The first ICF Ranking Series race of 2010 took place in New Zealand over the weekend. The race was worth valuable world ranking points for competitors.

“It was great to have a race early in the season, to test how we are competing internationally,” Mike Dawson said. The course that was set was physically an technically demanding, and the high level field meant that any mistakes especially touches would be costly. The weather put on a mix of four seasons, making testing conditions with the wind picking up during the finals, and making the negotiation of the course a bit difficult.

Will Forsythe and Kate Lawrence showed Australia is on the rise, winning in both kayak classes. Nico Peschier was dominant in the men’s C1.
